The first year of service is included at no additional charge with the original purchase an Ecotrac&reg; system. After the first year, Activation plans can be renewed on a yearly basis and purchased online through the e-Store on your personalized Ecotrac&reg; web page. Note: Activations plans are specific to each individual unit. This means that if you have multiple units in your account, Activation plans must be renewed for each individual unit on or before the expiration date. Activation plans DO NOT apply to the entire account. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) What are "Commands" and "Command" Packages?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) Commands are credits which are deducted each time an Ecotrac&reg; feature is activated or used by phone or online. For example, every time you locate your vehicle online, set a "Geo-Fence" or receive a notification a command is deducted from your account. There are 250 commands included at no additional charge with the original purchase an Ecotrac&reg; system and each time a yearly Activation Plan is renewed. Unlike Activation Plans, Commands are account based. This means that Commands are pooled for all unit activity within an account. Depending on your need and level of system use, you may run out of Commands before it is time to renew an Activation Plan. Ecotrac&reg; realizes that the level of system usage varies greatly from subscriber to subscriber so additional Commands can be purchased in "packages" on an as-needed basis. For example, if you use all 250 of the Commands included with your original purchase and there are still 6 months until you need to renew an Activation plan, you can purchase a Command package in groups of 100, 250 or 500 online through the e-Store on your personalized Ecotrac&reg; web page. No matter which package you choose, you won't have to worry about using them by a certain date. Commands do not expire as long as your unit's activation is renewed and the account does not expire. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) How do I activate my Ecotrac&reg; system?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) You can then go online to www.ecotrac.net to start the activation process. Click on "New Subscriber" and you will be instructed to enter your Unit ID number. You will then: 1. Enter required account information and 2. Enter vehicle/asset information. Once you have completed these steps, you are ready to use your Ecotrac&reg; system. If you prefer, your authorized Ecotrac&reg; dealer can assist you in the activation process.</p> <p class="PQue"> Q) What is the warranty on the Ecotrac&reg; system?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) The Ecotrac&reg; system comes with a one (1) year Limited Warranty against defects in material and workmanship. Detailed information on the Limited Warranty can be found in your User's manual. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Will my Insurance Company give me a discount if I have the Ecotrac&reg; system installed in my vehicle?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) Some insurance companies do give discounts. Check with your agent for more details.</p> <p class="PQue"> Q) ) Is the Ecotrac&reg; system and service transferable to a new owner if I sell my vehicle?</p> <p class="PAns"> A)Yes, if you sell your vehicle and leave the Ecotrac&reg; hardware in the vehicle being sold, you can request a transfer of hardware. The remaining balance of the Activation Plan for the vehicle being sold will be transferred to the new account ("Buyer"). The Buyer will then be required to contact Ecotrac&reg; to "activate" services. A transfer fee of $25.00 will be charged to the Buyer at the time of activation. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) I just purchased a preowned vehicle and was told that it has an Ecotrac&reg; system. How do I get service?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) If possible, have the seller contact our Customer Support line at 1-877-707-6468 to authorize the transfer. If this is not possible, you may fax proof-of-ownership to us and we will process the transfer. There is transfer fee that you will be charged. Once the account is in your name, you can then go online to www.ecotrac.net to start the activation process. Click on "New Subscriber" and you will be instructed to enter your Unit ID number. You will then: 1. Enter required account information; 2. Enter vehicle/asset information; and 3. Purchase an Activation plan and Command package that suits your needs. Once you have completed these three steps, you are ready to use your Ecotrac&reg; system.</p> <p class="PQue"> Q) How do I discontinue my Ecotrac&reg; service?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) You may terminate Ecotrac&reg; services at any time and for any reason upon delivery of written notice to Ecotrac&reg;. Ecotrac&reg; hardware and any unused portion of an "Activation Plan" or "Command" packages are not refundable.</p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Will Ecotrac&reg; know where my vehicle is at all times?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) Your Ecotrac&reg; system is activated all the time. You can track you vehicle or use any of the features, 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Who has access to my account?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) Your personal password will give access to you, the end user. If you request assistance by phone, an Ecotrac&reg; representative may access your account to help you. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Is Ecotrac&reg; affiliated with any law enforcement agencies?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) Ecotrac&reg; is a system that allows you to track and locate your vehicle whenever you feel the need. Ecotrac&reg;'s technology does not risk relying on busy law enforcement agencies to locate your missing vehicle. Of course, if you determine that your vehicle has been stolen, by locating your vehicle before you contact a law enforcement agency, you may quicken the recovery process. Law enforcement may act quicker to start the recovery process when you supply them an exact location of your vehicle.</p> <p class="PQue"> Q) What should I do if my vehicle is missing and I feel it has been stolen?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) Locate your vehicle online through your personalized Ecotrac&reg; web page to determine an exact location. Contact law enforcement to provide location information and file a police report.</p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Can I buy Ecotrac&reg; online?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) Currently, Ecotrac&reg; is only sold and installed by authorized Ecotrac&reg; dealers. Ecotrac&reg; services such as Activation packages and Command plans are renewed online.</p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Can I get Ecotrac&reg; for my company's fleet vehicles, rental equipment or other assets?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) Yes, Pinpoint offers a wide range of valuable services that are perfectly suited for the tracking and security needs of fleet vehicles and other assets. Simply contact Ecotrac&reg; by email or call 1-877-707-6468 and a representative will help you determine which Ecotrac&reg; service is right for you.</p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Is Ecotrac&reg; similar to LoJack&reg; or ONSTAR&reg;?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) Lojack&reg; is a basic provider of stolen-vehicle recovery services that may not have coverage in certain areas, and relies on law enforcement to have special equipment and time to locate your vehicle. Onstar&reg; is focused on in-vehicle emergency, information and cellular phone services, and does not provide any online tracking or security features. Ecotrac&reg; begins where LoJack&reg; and Onstar&reg; end, providing an endless list of features and possibilities that keep you connected, and in charge. Ecotrac&reg; is designed to be a service you will use on a daily basis </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Will the installation of my Ecotrac&reg; system void any warranties on my vehicle?</p> <p class="PAns"> A) NO.</p> <p class="PQue"> <u><b>SYSTEM</b></u><br /> <br /> Q) How do I locate my vehicle? </p> <p class="PAns"> A) TThe Ecotrac&reg; web site allows you to track your vehicle in real-time with updates at specified intervals. To track your vehicle and get a precise location click on the "Locate" tab. Your request may take up to three minutes to be completed, depending on service coverage and internet speed. Once the command has been successfully received the map will automatically be displayed. You will see the vehicle's position with the icon that identifies your vehicle on the map screen. Above the map will be the data that relates to the status of the vehicle including any address information.</p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Can I see where my vehicle has been in the last day or two? </p> <p class="PAns"> A) Yes, in fact you can run a history report on your vehicle from a few hours as far back as three months, as long as there have been scheduled location commands or activity has occurred during that time period. When you select to see a history of the vehicle's position, each and every location will appear along with the date, time, longitude, latitude coordinates, street address, direction and speed. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Will Ecotrac&reg; locate my family member or someone else who borrows my vehicle? </p> <p class="PAns"> A) As an Ecotrac&reg; subscriber, you can track or locate your vehicle anytime and for any reason, online or by phone. Whether you want to know how far your teenager is from home, or you feel your vehicle is missing, information is at your finger tips. </p> <!-- LPW: Removed per Gallin 3-30-2010 <p class="PQue"> Q) If my vehicle doesn't have an alarm system, will I still be able to know if it has been tampered with? </p> <p class="PAns"> A) Yes. Even without the benefit of an alarm system, Ecotrac&reg; incorporates the use of a "Movement" Alert and Geo-fence technology to help safeguard your vehicle from being stolen or used without your authorization. When activated, the Movement Alert can notify you if you vehicle is moved from where you parked it. The Geo-fence works like an electronic fence that is set certain distance around your vehicle. If this feature is activated and your vehicle moves outside this predetermined area without proper authorization, you will receive a notification of this event. </p> --> <p class="PQue"> Q) What is the Geo-Fence feature? </p> <p class="PAns"> A) Geo-Fence allows you to set a perimeter "fence" around the current location of your vehicle. If your vehicle moves outside the "fenced" area, a notification will be sent to you. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) How does the Speed Alert feature work? </p> <p class="PAns"> A) To use this feature, a specific speed limit for your vehicle is entered into the system. When set, you will receive a notification if the vehicle is driven faster than the set limit. If you are concerned that employees or a family member may be speeding in your vehicle, this feature will notify you if they do. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) How does a notification work? </p> <p class="PAns"> A) If an alarm or alert feature is activated and an event occurs to trigger a notification, you will receive an automated message via telephone, text message or e-mail, depending on how information is setup in your Notification profile. For example, if you enter an email address and phone number, you will be notified via both methods if an event occurs. Please be sure that the your contact information is entered correctly, Ecotrac&reg; will not be held liable for missed messages as a result of improper data entered by the subscriber. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Why am I not able to track my vehicle? I received a message saying the system cannot complete my request. </p> <p class="PAns"> A) In order for Ecotrac&reg; to track/locate your vehicle, satellite and wireless communication providers are used to send and receive information. If these service providers experience disruptions, delays or other difficulties, you may experience delays in Ecotrac&reg; services. Also, if your vehicle is outside a coverage area or in certain types of enclosed structures such as an underground parking garage, some services and features may be affected. </p> <p class="PQue"> Q) Where do I change/view my vehicle, unit or personal information such as passwords? </p> <p class="PAns"> A) Click on the "My Info" tab, and select the appropriate button for vehicle, unit and personal information pages. </p> <p class="PQue"> <u><b>HARDWARE</b></u><br /> <br /> Q) Who installs Ecotrac&reg;? </p> <p class="PAns"> A) Ecotrac&reg; systems are professionally installed by authorized installers or dealers.
